Privacy policy
OVERCLOCK
OVERCLOCK is made by Gigawatt Games, the games label of Clocktower Development LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the game collects and why.
What we collect
Account
You start with an anonymous ID. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google to keep your progress across devices, we receive the email address that provider shares with us (Apple lets you hide yours).
Rider profile
Your callsign, bike, trail, and look. Other players can see this public rider card.
Game progress
Your HASH balance and a history of how it was earned and spent, race results, leaderboard and daily times, and ghost runs (a replay of your best run that other riders can race).
Live races
While you race, your position on the track is shared with the other riders in that race several times a second. Race rooms are deleted about two hours after they end.
Friends
Your friend code, friends list, friend requests, and party invites. Friends can see whether you're online, in a lobby, or racing.
Device info
Each time the game opens it records your platform, app version, OS version, your region setting (a country code from your language settings, not your location), your time zone offset, and when you last played. We use this for support, compatibility, and to time notifications.
Purchases
If you buy the season pass, the App Store or Google Play takes the payment. We never see your card or billing details. The store gives us the product you bought, its transaction ID, and the purchase date. We check these with Apple or Google, then store them with your account to unlock the pass and to handle refunds.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device and your notification choices, so we can send friend activity, streak, and daily race reminders. We keep a log of sent notifications for 30 days. Turn them off any time in the game or in your phone's settings.
What stays on your device
This is saved on your phone or tablet and never sent to us:
- Settings, and progress from before your first sync
- Recent race history and season info
Sharing
Sharing your friend code sends a text link through your device's share sheet. We don't see who you send it to.
Motion
Optional tilt steering reads your phone's motion sensor while you race. That data is used on the spot to steer and is never stored or sent.
Support staff
Our team can look up a rider's platform, region, app version, and last-seen time to help with support, and can adjust HASH balances to fix problems.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or share it with advertisers. We use these service providers to run the game, and they only process data on our behalf:
- Google Firebase (authentication, Firestore and Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Hosting)
- Apple and Google, only if you choose to sign in with them
- The App Store and Google Play, which take payment if you buy the season pass
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Children
OVERCLOCK has no ads. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond what's described above. If you're a parent and want your child's data removed, use Delete account in the game's Settings, as described below.
Purchases in OVERCLOCK go through the App Store or Google Play, where parents can require approval for every purchase (Ask to Buy on Apple devices, purchase approvals in Google Family Link).
Keeping and deleting data
You can delete your account in the game at any time: open Settings, tap Delete account, and confirm. That permanently erases your account and everything tied to it on our servers: HASH, bikes, upgrades, looks, season pass, friends, race history, leaderboard times, ghost runs, and notification settings. Your callsign may still appear in the saved race results of riders you raced against. We keep a record of each purchase (the product, the store's transaction ID, the date, and the season) after the account is gone, because we need it for accounting, taxes, and refunds; deleting your account doesn't refund a pass. It works for guest riders too, not just those signed in with Apple or Google. Otherwise, we keep your data for as long as the game is running. Race rooms are deleted about two hours after a race, and the notification log after 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
